Biography

Ruthie Chase is adjunct lecturer in music in general studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

She has been teaching music theory at IU since 2006, when she began pursuing her master's degree  in music theory and worked as an associate instructor for a variety of classes.

Since that time, she has been a course coordinator in the Jacobs School Music Theory Department, an adjunct instructor in Music in General Studies, and the theory instructor for the Pre-College String Academy. She has been selected to teach her course, "Music and Animation," for the IU Collins Living-Learning Center in spring 2016.

Chase has presented original research in music theory at the Indiana University Music Theory Colloquium and at the Florida State University Music Theory Conference. Her research interests include popular music, music and cartoons, and musical borrowing.
