Alissa Guntren is an instructor of music theory, and has taught for the Music in General Studies department since 2009.

She earned a B.M. in Piano Performance from Boston University (1999), an M.M in Piano Performance from the University of Cincinnati (2001), and a P.D. in Piano Performance from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music (2005). She is currently a Ph.D. doctoral student in Music Theory at Indiana University. Her research interests focus on nineteenth-century German Romantic repertoire with a particular emphasis on hermeneutic analyses of Robert Schumann's piano cycles.

In addition to teaching music theory courses, Alissa is an active performer and piano instructor.
