He joined Charlotte Ballet as a principal dancer in 2003, at the invitation of Jean Pierre Bonnefoux, where he has served as dance captain, rehearsal director, and ballet master, and is currently associate artistic director and resident choreographer. Since 2006, Janes has choreographed more than 25 ballets for Charlotte Ballet, including the highly successful Rhapsodic Dances, performed at the Kennedy Center as part of its Ballet Across America series, to outstanding reviews in The Washington Post.
He was principal dancer and dance captain with Dayton Ballet from 1995 to 2003. He was soloist dancer with Hong Kong Ballet from 1990 to 1994 and in Australian Ballet’s corps de ballet from 1989 to 1990.
