Percussion gurus to convene at IU’s Jacobs School
For the first time ever, the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's Percussion Department will offer an intensive, five-day summer percussion workshop (July 14-18) featuring clinics, master classes and special performances by IU percussion faculty and internationally acclaimed percussion artists. The workshop includes a number of performances that are free and open to the public.

IU Summer Festival Jazz “Dream Team” a sure bet
The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's "Dream Team" is a sure bet for a winning evening when the Festival Jazz Orchestra performs July 14 at 8 p.m. in the Musical Arts Center during the IU Summer Music Festival. IU Distinguished Professor and Chair of the IU Jazz Studies Department David N. Baker will direct the orchestra, continuing the tradition for the third year this summer.

IU Opera Theater presents ‘Best musical comedy ever written’
Vincent Liotta is well-known in the opera world for co-founding the renowned Utah Festival Opera and for his stage direction with companies ranging from the Chicago Lyric Opera to the Vienna Staatspoer. This summer, though, Liotta is most thrilled not about a classic opera, but about an uplifting musical comedy, She Loves Me, presented by IU Opera Theater as part of the 2008 Indiana University Summer Music Festival.

IU Jacobs School of Music welcomes 42 students from overseas
Indiana University Bloomington's Jacobs School of Music recently welcomed 42 talented international students for the second summer session. Besides intensive daily classes in English and their instrument of choice, these students will have a chance to shine in the series of choral and orchestra concerts traditionally held in the IU Summer Music Festival.

IU Jacobs School student wins competition, will perform with the Indianapolis Symphony
A 15-year-old piano student in the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music has won the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Young Musicians Contest and will be performing with the orchestra July 18 and 19. Jingxuan Zhang, a piano student of IU Professor Arnaldo Cohen, will be performing with the orchestra this month.

Beaux Arts, the "gold standard" for trios, bids farewell
Distinguished Professor Menahem Pressler recently spoke of his many awe-inspiring years with the Beaux Arts Trio. The trio will offer its final performance in Bloomington on June 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Musical Arts Center as part of its internationally heralded farewell tour.

IU Summer Series showcases the talents of Jacobs faculty
The Indiana University Summer Music Festival's Chamber Music Series offers an extraordinary array of national and international musicians highlighting IU Jacobs School of Music faculty.
