The Indiana University Trombone Quartet, from the Jacobs School of Music, was recently selected as the winner of the 2012 Eastern Trombone Workshop National Trombone Quartet Competition, sponsored by The United States Army Band.

'Chimes of Christmas' ushering in the holiday season

The winter season kicks off with Chimes of Christmas, the annual holiday concert featuring the IU Jacobs School of Music's Grammy Award-nominated vocal ensemble the Singing Hoosiers, the IU Wind Ensemble and the Trombone Choir. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at IU Auditorium.

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music announces the co-winners of the Brass Department's Concerto Competition -- trombonist Patrick Pfister, a student of Professor Carl Lenthe, and trumpeter Christopher Van Leeuwen, a student of Professor Edmund Cord.

IU Professor of Trombone featured on popular Rubank Method CDs

Carl Lenthe, professor of trombone at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, is the featured soloist on two newly released CDs contained in H. Voxman's Concert and Contest Collection, featuring the Rubank Method--one for trombone and one for baritone horn, both with piano accompaniment. In addition, Kimberly Carballo, interim head opera coach at the Jacobs School, is one of the featured pianists on the trombone CD.

Baroque trombone ensemble invited to Boston Early Music Festival 'fringe'

The Baroque trombone ensemble °Sacabuche!, made up of students and alumni of the IU Jacobs School of Music, has been invited to perform in the fringe festival of the internationally recognized 2009 Boston Early Music Festival.
