BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Continuing a spirit of cultural exchange, four student ensembles from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea, will present a chamber music recital at 8 p.m. this Friday, Aug. 28, in Auer Hall at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature works by Rachmaninoff, Delibes, Kim, Glinka and Farkas performed by a piano duo, vocal duo, piano trio and wind quintet from the private women’s college.
The Jacobs School launched its first Asian tour in March when the IU Chamber Orchestra traveled to Seoul to perform a series of four concerts, including one at Sookmyung, where students from the two schools shared the bill.
The 36-member IU Chamber Orchestra, led by Jacobs professors Jorja Fleezanis and Stephen Wyrczynski, also performed at Seoul National University before entertaining American military personnel at U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan. The visit culminated with a concert at the Seoul Arts Center, the country’s foremost art and culture complex. Read the blog.
