Background:
Kristina Muxfeldt's research interests include music history, biography, analysis, and reception, with particular emphasis on the cultural and social environment of early nineteenth-century music, as well as opera in Weimar and Vienna.
Her publications have appeared in The Literature of German Romanticism, Journal of the American Musicological Society, and 19th-Century Music.
Her recent papers and lectureshave addressed Schubert's last operatic project, constructs of memory in Schumann and Beethoven, and various studies of Schubert's poetic texts.
A 1986-87 Fullbright scholar, Ms. Muxfeldt studied at the University of Vienna and in 1980-81 at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Stuttgart. Her awards include the A. Whitney Briswold Faculty Research Grant for research in Vienna and Weimar, nomination for the Yale Graduate Mentoring Award, a Stony Brook Dissertation Fellowship and the Fulbright Grant.
