Susann McDonald has served as artistic director of the World Harp Congress since its inception and is honorary president of the Association Internationale des Harpistes in Paris, France.
Ms. McDonald studied at the Paris Conservatory and was the first American to receive the prestigious Premier Prix de Harpe. Her teachers included Marie Ludwig, Lily Laskine, and Henriette Renie.
She is a former faculty member and former chair of the harp departments at the Juilliard School, the University of Southern California, the University of Arizona, and California State University at Los Angeles.
Her recordings and publications include much of the major harp literature. Ms. McDonald teaches frequent master classes in leading conservatories throughout the world, including Paris, Verona, Granada, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, China, Brazil, and Villars, Switzerland. She serves as adjudicator of international harp competitions and is founder of the USA International Harp Competition.
