Biography
Patricia Wise, soprano and professor of voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Based in Europe for many years, performed over 40 major operatic roles from the lyric and coloratura repertoire. International career in leading opera houses, including New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Vienna, La Scala Milan, London Covent Garden, Paris, Zurich, Barcelona, and many more. Soloist with world's major orchestras, including New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles, Vienna Philharmonic, and Israel Philharmonic; working with renowned conductors as Maazel, Mehta, Boehm, Abbado, Giulini, Kleiber, and Sawallisch. Numerous recordings, films, and television appearances. Received title of Kammersänger from Austrian government in 1989. Frequent adjudication in international competitions. Master classes at Vienna Conservatory, Salzburg Mozarteum, U. of Miami Salzburg Summer College, Bay Area Summer Opera Institute, Jacobs School of Music Voice Workshop, and numerous music schools in the U.S. Master teacher at the Washington Opera Young Artist Program, 2002-04. Former students singing in the opera houses of the Metropolitan, San Francisco, Minneapolis, San Diego, Des Moines, Palm Beach; and in Europe, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, and Paris, as well as numerous young artist programs in the U.S.
