Biography
Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi is a former faculty member of University of Western Ontario and University of Illinois. He was appointed President of Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, Japan in 2004.
Professor Tsutsumi has held numerous summer festival teaching positions, master classes, and workshops.
He is a first prize winner of the Casals International Competition, Budapest; he won Grand Prize at the Arts Festival, Japan; the Mobile Music Prize, Japan, and he won an Academy of the Arts Award.
He has served as adjudicator at the International Music Competition-Munich, Bach Competition-Leipzig, International Rostropovich Cello Competition-Paris, Paulo Cello Competition-Helsinki, and Osaka Chamber Music Competition-Japan.
Professor Tsutsumi has made numerous recordings for Sony Classical.
He serves as president of the Japan Cello Society and Suntory Music Foundation and music director for Kirishima International Music Festival.
