Thomas Baldner is the former chief conductor of the Rheinisches Kammerorchester in Cologne. He has served as a guest conductor for the Berlin Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and many others. Professor Baldner was a prize winner in the International Competition for Conductors at the Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

He has participated in numerous recordings and productions for radio and television. Professor Baldner served as chair of the Department of Instrumental Conducting at Indiana University from 1976 to 2000.
