Background:
Eric Isaacson is the coordinator of the Music Information Technology graduate minor program, holds an adjunct appointment in the School of Informatics, and is a core faculty member in the Cognitive Science Program. He has published articles and book reviews in Journal of Music Theory, Music Theory Online, Computer Music Journal, Indiana Theory Review, Advances in Computers, and elsewhere. Professor Isaacson's special interests are in the pre-serial music of the Second Viennese School, computer applications in music analysis and music pedagogy, and the visualization of music. He is the former editor of Music Theory Online, as well as the former chair of the development committee for the Advanced Placement examination in Music Theory. Each summer he offers workshops for AP and prre-AP music theory. Professor Isaacson was the recipient of a two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to develop Music Fundamentals Online and is an investigator for the National Science Foundation-funded Variations2 Digital Music Library project. He is a former faculty member of Ithaca College.
