As a specialist in choral music education and vocal jazz, Patrice Madura Ward-Steinman is a former faculty member and music education department chair at the University of Southern California, and a former faculty member and conductor of choral ensembles at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne. She has also taught choral and general music to grades K-12 in California and has been active extensively as a pianist.
Professor Madura has articles published in the Journal of Research in Music Education, Journal of Historical Research in Music Education, Philosophy of Music Education Review, Psychology of Music, Bulletin for the Council of Research in Music Education, Jazz Research Papers, and Teaching Music. She is the author of Getting Started with Vocal Improvisation, published by MENC.
